FAQ

What should I wear?
Whether it's Birkenstocks or a ball gown, please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. At most NDMOA classical concerts you'll see a majority of concert-goers in business or business casual attire.

When should I arrive?
Plan to arrive approximately 10 minutes before the concert is scheduled to begin.  Guests obtaining tickets at Will Call are advised to arrive at least 20 minutes early.  Guests who arrive after the concert begins are asked to find a seat in the galleries only during appropriate pauses in the music.

May I bring my children?
Children of all ages are welcome. Please be considerate.

May I bring my large bag or backpack?
Large bags, backpacks, and knapsacks are not allowed in the galleries. These items may be left in the coatroom next to the Museum Shop.

May I take pictures or record the concert?
The use of still, video, and digital cameras or audio recording equipment during the concert is strictly prohibited at all times.

When do I applaud?
Here are a few tips for newcomers who may be unsure about when to applaud at a classical concert: In your program book, you will notice that many musical works have multiple movements or sections.  While a short pause often follows each movement, it is customary to refrain from applauding during these pauses.  After the final movement of a work, the musicians will relax their instruments, a sure sign that it's time to applaud. If all else fails, you can always wait for the rest of the audience to begin clapping.

Can I bring food or drinks to the performance?
Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the Museum.

How long is a typical performance?
Most performances are approximately one to one and a half hours long, including one 20-minute intermission.

Where can I learn about the music before the concert?
Browse our website to learn more about the performers, including videos and sound clips: www.ndmoaconcerts.com.  In addition, program notes are provided in the program book you receive upon entering the galleries.

What if I'm unable to attend my performance?
All ticket sales are final.
